Bridal sessions are one of Vanessa’s favorites! Even if you select another photographer for your wedding day, please consider a more modern Day-After bridal session with Vanessa G. Photography. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy your dress and your new husband.

What is a Day-After Bridal Session?

This is a new, more modern version of the bridal session. Maybe you’re sure you want a location shoot for your bridal images, but you are concerned about keeping the dress perfect for the big day. A Day-After session take place the ‘day after’ the wedding or after the honeymoon. This allows you more freedom at the bridal shoot. There is less stress about the dress being harmed and you can feel more relaxed with your partner. Yes, your new husband should come with you. Your wedding day is often a whirlwind of business, and this session will allow you to capture all the beauty of your new relationship with more than the typical 15mins allowed. If you’d like to Trash Your Dress as part of this session, that’s even better!

A Day-After session means you can add in a few extras to this session that you wouldn’t have been able to on the wedding day. Unique accessories, different shoes options, more relaxed hair styles, and fun personality add-ins. Can’t decide on one? Bring a few!

When should I schedule a Bridal Session?

If you would like to display your bridal images at your reception, then plan to have your bridal session at least 3 months prior to your wedding.

Where should I have my Bridal Session?

Every photo session is unique. Bridal Sessions by Vanessa G. Photography are on-location. You will choose what location will be best for you. You can choose a place you are more familiar with or choose something radically different. Bridal sessions should show your personality and your style, however, going completely creative and outside the box here is awesome.

Your photographer is trained to look for opportunity in any location, however, here are a few ideas to get you thinking: public parks, rail roads, ponds, lakes, large open fields, down town, your own yard(no expert landscaping needed), playgrounds, gardens, a little café, and much more. Find a place that interests you. Fashion magazines are full of great ideas for imagery.

Many are concerned with the beauty in the surroundings, but realistically, there are few locations where great results aren’t expected. The specialized equipment used for your unique session will accentuate the positive.

How should I prepare for the Bridal Session?

Plan to bring at least one other person with you to help maneuver the dress. All the other details are up to you. You can decide if you want a bouquet, fancy hair up-do, manicure, different shoes, a red sash, an antique hat, etc. There are no rules here. This can be as non-traditional as you’d like. You are expected to have fun modeling the most expensive dress you’ve ever owned.

If you’re doing a Day-After Bridal Session, you may want your new husband to be in the wedding day tux, or maybe in a regular suit. Feel free to be creative.

What if he doesn’t want to do it the Day-After?

For those men who are not real excited about this type of session, you will be pleasantly surprised that things go more smoothly than expected. The only person you need to concentrate on is your lovely new wife. No fake, ‘say cheese’ required. You will be allowed to laugh, talk, and be the man she fell in love with. As a bonus, she will love that you did this!!…and you will too! Finally all the formalities of the big wedding day are over and you can just enjoy your new bride. Bring a picnic and make it a date.

What do you mean “Trash the Dress”?

There is a gallery here to show the main concept. It’s labeled “excitement.” That’s an accurate description. In this sample session you see how the bride goes from a basic nontraditional setting to truly trashing the dress in the lake. Priceless.

It is NOT an event where we purposely try to ruin your wedding dress. We will not throw mud on it and rip it to shreds. *However, this session comes with the understanding that your dress may likely be indirectly damaged through the session and may not be reparable.

The idea behind Trash the Dress is to essentially design a bridal session with no limits. This type of session would assume that you had no desire to store and keep your dress for your future daughter who will think it is out of style and might not fit her. Because all normal restraints are removed, you would have the freedom to go anywhere and do anything in that beautiful dress.

The main goal is to create artistic images to be used as artwork in your home. Anyone can have the studio posed, doll-like images of themselves in the wedding dress. Few will have created edgy, timeless, unforgettable artworks. These certainly will command attention and will be the most memorable of anything you do in that dress. Why condemn that dress to a lifetime in a box or closet? You loved when you bought it, make it last forever.

This session can also include your husband. The location is your choice. Think of things like industrial, wooded, water, horses, farming, etc. No limits.

Maybe you’ve been married for more than a few years and that wedding dress still hangs in the closet. Let’s trash it!
