Meet Elena, class of 2011 at Lumberton Senior High School. She is the first new Senior Model Representative to be revealed. Not only is she beautiful, she’s incredibly polite. I think she said, “yes, mam” during our session only about a hundred times. It made me feel really old, but it was very appreciated. It’s refreshing to meet a teen that erases all the unruly stereotypes.  As the up and coming president of the Native American Student Association, she has some big plans. She has a few outreach programs in mind that are sure to make a difference in her community.

Please click on the small music note in the top left hand corner of this blog (just over the logo) to turn off the website music before you click play on Elena’s video.

All 2011 Senior Model Representatives get a FREE copy of their session video. ;)

If you missed the application deadline, send me an email and let me know where you’ll be going to high school this year. There could be a spot just for you!

Here are the rules:

1-BE a fan on the Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/Vanessa.G.Photography

2-Click on the link “Vanessa G. Photography Appointment Reservations” in the links box in the lower left hand corner of the Fan Page. (It’s also on the Wall several times!)

3-There you will select your FREE 10 minute time slot on March 17th! You’ll even get an email and text reminder (next week) when you enter your information.

4-Show up on March 17th, at the new studio, on time, to have your picture made. It will be quick, painless, and fun.

5-Your image will be emailed to you shortly after that day.

About the short and sweet shoot: This will be a head and shoulders shot, unless you have a prop that requires more length, then a head to waist shot. Feel free to bring any kind of prop you’d like (guitar, skateboard, flower, book, magazine, purse, sports equipment, etc.). Keep accessories in mind, like scarves, hats, earrings, necklace, glasses, sunglasses, etc.  You can decide which type of personality you want to show. Ex: funny, silly, serious, fancy, crazy, diva, hobo, mysterious, sexy, fun, plain-jane, normal, in-character, etc.

Ladies, I’d wear your hair down and if you typically wear makeup, use a slightly heaver application of color than normal. Men, at least wash your hair that day and neaten facial hair if needed. Clothes? Anything goes.

A Mini Session is a short version of a portrait session. Because the session is shorter, the goals are simplified and the purpose is focused. There will be a limited number of slots. Mini Sessions will not be offered again for a long while. Call now to reserve your spot on either Thursday, Feb. 11th or Tuesday, Feb. 23rd.

Here are the details…

Session Cost: $53.88 (Includes 7.75% NC Sales Tax)

Session fee is due when scheduling your appointment to reserve your time and date. It includes the following:

-        30 minute studio session, 1-2 outfits

-        The photographers time and talent

-        Focused session on 1-2 individuals, OR one pet and owner

-        Post processing of each indivual image for the best color, contrast, and composition

-        Basic retouching of your images which include removal of scars or blemishes and cropping

-        Approximately 5-10 proof images to choose from

-        Shared ordering session with online previews

-        Standard prints available at 20% OFF regular prices (prints begin at $30)

-        1 week to place your order

-        Special deals on CDs

Why have a Mini Session?

If you’re looking for a short and sweet session to capture a few updated images of your children, grandchildren, or pet, then this session is perfect. This session will not include the large variety of images you’d get from an Authentic Portrait Session. Also, because of the time constraints here, these sessions work best for children who can at least sit up independently.

Here are a few ideas: the first lost tooth, birthday portrait for invitations, new puppy, grandma & me, just before braces, a new haircut, cousins, big brother/sister & me, OR just because they are so cute. If you’ve never had professional portraits taken and you want to get a glimps of how rewarding it can be, then this is also a good opportunity for you!

Something important is about to happen. There is a swell building.

Since October 2009, the new studio has been slowly assembled one piece at a time. In the next 24 hours, the final few prints will arrive and the last of the frames will be hung. Goody Bags will be assembled and the last of the door prizes will be gathered.  All the little details will be in place to make things ready for Open House. I will finally be official. It’s been a long time coming.

About 2 years ago, I stood in my bathroom, staring at an image of my first son that I’d taken with an old film camera when he was about 4 months old. It’s my favorite of him as a baby. He’s lying on my bed, chewing his little fist. I used only the natural light available to capture that beautiful moment. That image is technically perfect.  I distinctly remember that moment. How I studied that image as my mind filled with all the new memories of him that had been made since that image had been taken. How I felt such joy when I looked at that image and how I knew every mother must have that feeling. It was that moment when I decided that this dream I’d had for over 15 years was indeed possible.

And now it has all come together.

If ever you’ve wondered if dreams really do come true, then come visit me. I’m living proof. Dream big. Be passionate about what you desire. And work very, very hard. A sprinkle of patience helps too. It is possible. It is very possible.

Open House will be Jan. 21st from 4-7pm. Come celebrate with me!

Please visit the Open House page on the main menu for all the juicy details. Thank you!

This little man is now the proud big brother of two little sisters. That’s a big job. And he does it so well. He has a kind heart and is well mannered. He looks out for those little girls in his best ‘big brother’ way. I can imagine how they will look up to him all their lives and how he’ll be such an important person to them. We should all take something from his example, that our younger siblings may need us more than we realize. Family is the glue of life. Its a sticky mess sometimes, but it’s often what holds us together.

This is the newest sister. She’s a great example of the first physical mile stone for a photography session. She can hold her head up while on her tummy and look around. She’s still wobbly, but she gave me a few cute glances before she gave up trying to look at me. At three months, there is not a lot babies can do. Capturing their newest talents is always part of my goal during a session.

We, and I mean Mom and I, worked very hard to get these three together. A few crackers, some singing, and a little dancing worked long enough to get them all still and cute looking. Whew. Thank goodness!
