This session has become my favorite bridal session to date. Everything about it was fun and different. Besides the fact that the Bride is so nice and so easy to get along with and so incredibly beautiful, she also chose a great location…a real working farm.

When ever I’m viewing engagement, bridal, or wedding images, it takes me right back to those days in my own life. Those memories are so precious. The moments I remember most are the ones that were actually captured in a photograph. I actually did not have a bridal session before I was married or after. Why? That’s a frequently asked question considering I’m a photographer and all. The answer is simple, if I’d had the opportunity to have THESE kinds of images, I’d have done it in a heart beat. But I didn’t see any photographer doing this at that time. I really didn’t want an image of me sitting in a studio with my hands gently resting on the back of a red velvet chair. A chair that I never would have bought for my own home. That didn’t represent me.

Tip: She made her own bouquet from silk flowers for her bridal session. Amazingly convincing.

One of the things she said about her session images was that she had never felt so pretty. And that’s exactly how I want my Brides to feel about their images. And a big part of the reason a Bridal session is worth doing. After the Bridal session, most women will never again have a photo session that features her and her alone.

There is something about a women in a wedding dress that is always beautiful. No matter her height, or weight, hair or skin color. She is at her best. Confident and well groomed down to the last detail. I’ve never seen a bride that wasn’t beautiful. As the photographer, I’m one of the very few who gets to see the bride in her wedding dress before the actual ceremony. It’s like a special secret I’m required to keep. So I’m always patiently waiting for the wedding day to come and go so I can post the bridal images.

This particular bride had a lovely January wedding. Our bridal session, like most of the rest, took place outdoors a few months before. She choose two locations that were simple, yet interesting. As she stepped out of the car, I could feel her excitement and cautiousness. It brought back so many memories. All of us who’ve worn that beautiful expensive gown have a memory of how it felt to finally wear it outside of the store. It’s a big deal.

Having an outdoor session adds a little to your story. Can you tell the season here? A little green mixed with a few fallen leaves to create a nice pattern on the ground beneath her.

It was an overcast day with a few rain clouds drifting closer. The gray-blue sky was a beautiful back drop. She stood out from the background. Mother nature was kind enough to throw in a little breeze to lift her hair back from her face. Perfect.
