When I first sat down to write this little blurb about myself, it didn’t go well. The ex-teacher in me was focusing on sentence structure and syntax. The next thing I knew, I had a few paragraphs of boring bio that was technically correct, but didn’t feel like ME. I’ve learned a lot about myself since I decided to follow my dreams. The most important? Be authentic.

I find that most women are as concerned about their appearance as I am. That most kids just want to have fun during a session and not feel forced to smile. That every mother thinks her child is the most adorable, beautiful being on earth, much like I do. That couples who love each other, have a hard time relaxing in front of the camera and letting that show. These are the places where I come in handy.

I do have a few talents. Many years ago, I earned a degree in Visual Communications with a concentration in Photography. There are a few things that I actually took with me from those years. I knew I loved photography, but there wasn’t much opportunity for a job in it. Skip ahead, way ahead, and my first handsome child was born. (He’s at the top, smiling at you with his baby brother.) As I documented every little expression and character trait he had, I found myself falling in love again. With him, and with my camera. When you have a passion for what you’re doing, it shows. There is great satisfaction in doing something you love and sharing it with the world. And so began, Vanessa G. Photography.

My Job Description:

- Use technical skills to out wit the sun and capture true environmental locations with happy people in them. a.k.a. Natural light photography.

- NEW! Use technical skills to create modern portraits in the studio too!

- Use trained eye to find beauty in the most unlikely of places.

- Document natural, spontaneous moments.

- Capture the beauty in every child, AND the essence of their character…by letting them be themselves.

- Design each session with loose time constraints and unique locations to better capture ‘real’ people.

- Use technical skills to post process digital images from good to WOW!

- Create a gallery of personalized art for you to enjoy.

- Provide design consultation that will help you take that artwork and transform the very character of your home.

My two goals:

1. Produce custom, artistic portraiture designed to be the focus of home décor.

2. Stay true to my style of photography: authentic, modern, and beautiful.

Ahhhhh. Now that sounds more like me. That part about my son always chokes me up, so I’m going to go blow my nose while you look up the important information and contact me about when you want your session. This will be one of the best investments you’ve ever made in your family, your home, and your memories. I’m so excited to be part of it. You’ll love it. And so will I.
